Understanding The Claims Process

BCS Consulting was developed to help homeowners that would otherwise have no chance filing an insurance claim due to a weather loss. The entire process is very confusing and most homeowners either get a lower settlement or denied altogether. Listed below are the typical processes involved in filing a claim and the obstacles that come along with it.

Step 1: Finding and qualifying the damage:

In many cases, the average homeowner is not aware of what level of damage is required to file an insurance claim. Because of many different variables, not much damage is required to file a claim. BCS Consulting has HAAG certified inspectors that will asses the damage and determine whether or not it would qualify for a claim. Helpful hint: ( Your rates will not increase nor can you be dropped for filing a claim that is a result of a natural act)

Step 2. Filing and negotiating the claim:

This part of the process is really crazy. In most cases, this entire process is very confusing and hard for the homeowner to understand. There are many different ways a person could be denied in this process. From an inaccurate date of loss, to an insurance adjuster that is not aware of State laws or local building code requirements. It is truly scary how inconsistent and inaccurate is step can often be.

Step 3. Understanding the loss report:

After an insurance claim has been successfully negotiated, the insurance adjuster will issue a loss report. A loss report is typically about ten pages long and describes what the insurance company is going to cover. They are very hard to understand and in many cases not even your insurance agent knows how to read them. Most of the time, they contain hidden money ( sometimes up to 70% ) that can’t be obtained unless a certain process is followed. On top of that, it is not uncommon for quantities to be incorrect or some items are left out completely. This is an area where it is VERY beneficial to have an experts help.

Step 4. Dealing with your mortgage company:

If you have a mortgage on your home, there is a very high probability that they will be listed as a payee on the check you get from the insurance company. Because of this, the mortgage company will need to sign off on the check before it will be able to be deposited into your bank. This process can be just as hard as step 3. Every mortgage company has a different process. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes is very difficult. BCS Consulting has learned and streamlined this entire process.

Step 5. Quality construction:
